How Does this Course Work?

The ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment is an online tool that evaluates a student’s knowledge before the course to evaluate their proficiency and determine the need for additional review and practice in 3 sections: rhythm recognition, pharmacology, and practical application. The student must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work and achieve a score of at least 70% before taking the ACLS Course. The student must email or print their completion certificate and bring it to class. The ACLS Precourse Work involves a student reviewing course content through online videos before entering the classroom. The video lessons cover multiple medical subjects and each lesson includes questions to engage the student. This Precourse work allows more classroom time for hands-on skills training and leads to the student being better prepared to participate as soon as they enter the classroom. To summarize, students must complete the 4 hour Precourse work at home and then come in for the class. Please keep in mind, you MUST complete this to attend this course. Do not register if you do not have enough time to complete this 4 hour Precourse work.

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Every second counts when stabilizing life-threatening trauma cases. This course, taught by qualified nurses, prepares you with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and training needed to provide high-quality trauma nursing care. The goal of TNCC is to improve trauma patient outcomes by providing nurses with foundational trauma knowledge, skills, and a systematic Trauma Nursing Process to guide trauma patient care. Verification of successful course completion is based on passing the written exam and the Trauma Nursing Process (TNP) psychomotor skills station. Verification is valid for four years. After completing this course, you will be able to properly assess patients and implement evidence-based interventions to improve outcomes for them.

Here’s a glimpse into what you’ll learn:

  • The latest trauma nursing practice recommendations
  • Systematic assessment and standardized approach to trauma nursing care
  • Rapid identification of life-threatening injuries

Pre-course learning: Includes access to required online modules before the course date to let you learn at your own pace, apply what you learn, and receive immediate feedback. Modules include a step-by-step breakdown of the Trauma Nursing Process and a comprehensive study guide.

This course is typically for very experienced RNs who have had TNCC several times in the past and work in active trauma centers. This is just skills testing with no training. The skills challenge has a 20% fail rate; make sure you are extremely comfortable with the Trauma Nursing Process if you are signed up for this course. You are required to complete the pre-course modules before the course. The course is a 45-minute skills challenge. Classes are delivered via Zoom, students are expected to be visible on camera during class.

Why is ENA's TNCC the right course for you?

  • Evidence-based content developed by trauma nursing experts
  • Curriculum designed specifically for nurses
  • Course content is updated regularly as trauma care evolves
  • Four-year, internationally recognized verification as a TNCC provider is earned upon successful completion
  • Increases your confidence in trauma patient care
